Role Summary

Specialty Representative, GIC - Los Angeles, CA. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize short and long term sales performance, placing the patient at the center and operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve set call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent experience; high school diploma/GED required with at least five years of industry experience including three years in pharmaceutical/health/science preferred.
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach accordingly.
  • Proven track record of selling success and strong presentation skills; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities and develops sales strategies from findings.
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; able to operate effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible, respected resource; builds partnerships across district and matrix teams; leads by example and supports peers through changing environments.
  • Documented success in leadership or increased responsibility at district, regional, or organizational levels.
  • Preferred: proven sales performance within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing for non-English-speaking locales.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; able to obtain and maintain credentials.

Education

Additional Requirements

  • HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities; ability to obtain and maintain credentials; may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses as applicable.
