Role Summary

This field-based role requires residing within a reasonable distance of the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed stated objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to improve sales performance; handle objections and close on every sales call.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations, build trusted relationships, and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease areas, products, clinical and sales insights with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to optimize strategy.
  • Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/maintain disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field or equivalent industry experience; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five years of relevant industry experience with three+ years in the pharmaceutical/health/science sector; high school diploma/GED acceptable with experience.
  • Required: Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; operates effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Required: Proven track record of sales success and strong presentation skills; able to offer innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Required: In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking abilities.
  • Required:Influences others and is regarded as a credible, respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
  • Required: HCIR credentialing is essential to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; may include background checks, drug screens, and immunization proof.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success in the relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Preferred: Ability to comply with ongoing HCIR credentialing requirements and maintain good standing to obtain credentials.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
