Role Summary
Specialty Representative, GIC - Bakersfield, CA. Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance. Place the patient at the center of efforts and operate within AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close effectively.
- Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that meets call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence to align and optimize brand strategy and execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent industry experience; otherwise at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
- Required: Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach accordingly.
- Required: Proven track record of selling success and strong presentation skills; ability to generate innovative ideas to maximize opportunities; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Required: In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource; strong business acumen; proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking; capable in a matrix environment.
- Required: Influences others and is a credible, respectful resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; demonstrates positive behaviors and coaching.
- Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels.
- Preferred: Proven sales success within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in writing and speaking (where applicable).
- Required: Satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Required: Ability to meet HCIR credentialing requirements which may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; responsibility to satisfy requirements with AbbVie providing support as needed.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or related field preferred; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- High school diploma/GED required if no bachelor’s degree and applicable experience is demonstrated.
Additional Requirements
- Health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to enter facilities and organizations within the assigned territory; ongoing compliance in good standing or eligibility.
