Role Summary
Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and provide customer needs solving capability to maximize short and long term sales performance. Place the patient at the center of efforts and operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Aim to serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: This role is field-based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field, or relevant and equivalent industry experience.
- Required: at least five (5) years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, including three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required if applicable.
- Required: Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach accordingly.
- Required: Provides innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment; anticipates and responds to changes.
- Required: Influences others and is a credible, respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example.
- Required: Documented success in leadership and increased responsibility at district, regional, or organizational levels.
- Preferred: Proven track record of sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing.
- Preferred: English language proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English speaking regions.
- Required: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Required: HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; responsible for meeting all requirements; AbbVie provides resources to assist.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
- High school diploma/GED required if applicable
Additional Requirements
- All HCIR credentialing requirements must be satisfied to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; maintain good standing or eligibility for credentials.
