Role Summary
Specialty Representative, GI Care responsible for executing brand strategy and field tactics, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and building strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance with patient-centric focus. Must operate within AbbVie’s code of conduct and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
- Create pre-call plan objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and concerns effectively to close on calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales knowledge, and share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field or relevant equivalent industry experience; if no bachelor’s degree, at least five years of experience with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
- Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approaches accordingly; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and anticipates changes.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and use of business tools; capable of strategic and critical thinking; credible and respected resource; builds partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team.
- Leads by example with positive behaviors and peer coaching; has documented success in leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels.
- Preferred: Proven track record in sales within respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English language proficiency (verbal and written).
- An essential requirement: satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying all requirements; AbbVie provides resources to assist.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.

- This geography covers the state of West Virginia; role is field-based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
