Role Summary
Field-based Specialty Representative for Gastroenterology in White Plains, NY. Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance with the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts. Operate within AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations. Travel within a reasonable distance from the primary city is expected.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win outcomes for AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales management to align and optimize brand strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers; identify, develop and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma/GED; 5+ years of relevant industry experience, including at least 3+ years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
- Required: Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills; ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and respond to changes.
- Required: Influences others and is viewed as a credible, respected role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team; leads by example in changing and challenging environments.
- Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district, regional or organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: Proven sales success in the therapeutic area; pharma industry experience such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing.
- Preferred: English language proficiency (verbal and written).
- Required: Satisfy all health care industry representative credentialing (HCIR) requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory.
- Required: HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and state or city licenses; you are responsible for meeting all requirements.
- Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment.
- Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening; safe driving record.
