Role Summary

Field-based Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology, covering Sacramento, CA and surrounding areas. Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and center patient needs while operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed established goals.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and secure actionable outcomes on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win outcomes for AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease states, product, and clinical and sales insights; share intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Required: In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of industry experience with three (3) or more years in the pharma/health/science sector; high school diploma/GED required
  • Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; ability to operate in a matrix environment; capable of strategic thinking and delivering innovative solutions
  • Required: Proven track record in selling with solid presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style/behavior and influence outcomes
  • Required: Influences others and is viewed as a credible resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example
  • Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; uses insights to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: Track record of sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency
  • Required: HCIR credentialing compliance to gain entry into facilities; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; physically able to drive personal auto or company vehicle

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
