Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology – Orlando South, Florida is a field-based role. You will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, manage a defined territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales while placing the patient at the center of efforts. You will operate within AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
- Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and concerns to close on every sales call.
- Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, and share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize brand strategy.
- Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field, or relevant and equivalent industry experience; if no bachelor’s degree, at least five years of industry experience with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
- Required: Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to identify customer styles/behaviors and adapt selling approaches; provide innovative ideas to maximize business opportunities.
- Required: Influences others, credible role model, and ability to lead by example; strong collaboration with district colleagues and matrix teams; positive behavior and peer coaching.
- Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: Track record of sales performance within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency in writing and speaking (for non-English-speaking contexts).
- Required: Satisfaction of HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities within the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Required: Demonstrates deep scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment.
- Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screen; ability to drive personal or company vehicle as needed.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or related field preferred; or equivalent industry experience.

- HCIR credentialing requirements may include background checks, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; you are responsible for satisfying all credentialing requirements.
- Driving requirement: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass safety and driving checks; driving a personal or company vehicle may be necessary.
