Role Summary

This role is field-based and focused on Gastroenterology within the Minneapolis area. The Specialty Representative will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, manage the territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships with a patient-centered approach, while complying with all laws, regulations, and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve defined metrics and optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, and share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, business-related field, or equivalent industry experience; or at least five years of related experience with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry if no bachelor’s degree; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Required: Proven track record of selling success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and behavior; provide innovative ideas to maximize opportunities; respond to changes effectively.
  • Required: Influences others and is a credible, respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships across districts and matrix teams; demonstrates leadership and coaching in changing environments.
  • Required: Documented success in leadership or increased responsibility at district/region levels; uses findings to inform sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success within respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Required: Ability to meet HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities and organizations within the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Required: Demonstrates deep scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment.
  • Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; driving a personal or company vehicle may be necessary.

Education

Additional Requirements

  • Must satisfy health care industry credentialing requirements (HCIR) to gain access to facilities and organizations in the assigned territory.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and meet safe driving requirements.
