Role Summary
Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field to drive sales performance, effectively manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales, placing the patient at the center and operating within applicable laws and AbbVie’s code of conduct.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
- Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan achieving set call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, and share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to optimize strategy and execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent experience; or five+ years of industry experience with at least three years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry if no bachelor’s degree; high school diploma/GED required.
- Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; ability to operate in a matrix environment; presents innovative solutions to maximize opportunities.
- Required: Proven track record in selling with solid presentation skills; ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; contributes ideas for the organization and adapts to changes.
- Required: Influences others; credible and respected resource; builds partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team; demonstrates positive behaviors and peer coaching in changing environments.
- Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational level; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: Proven sales success within therapeutic areas; pharma industry experience such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing where applicable.
- Required: HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Preferred/Required: Knowledge of background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses as part of HCIR requirements; AbbVie resources available to assist.
- Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive personal or company vehicle; may involve handling equipment as appropriate.
Additional Requirements
- Field-based role; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city; geography covers Manhattan N and surrounding areas.
- HCIR credentialing prerequisites may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; responsibility to satisfy all requirements.
