Role Summary

The Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology role is field-based, covering Las Vegas, NV and surrounding areas. Candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. The role involves executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, achieving sales performance, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and building strong customer relationships with a patient-centered approach, while operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed them.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise, and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required if no bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking; ability to operate in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and behavior; contributes ideas to the organization and responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is seen as a credible resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team; leads by example and coaches peers through change.
  • Documented leadership experience and ability to take on increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: proven sales success within therapeutic areas; prior commercial pharmaceutical experience (physician/account based selling, training, managed care, or marketing) preferred; English proficiency in writing and speaking.
  • Must satisfy health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to enter facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; may involve driving personal or company vehicle.
