Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology - Albany, NY. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short and long term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of our efforts and operating within AbbVie's policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and secure action to close on every sales call.
  • Proactively address customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve set call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers, maximizing access and sales opportunities.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, disease states, products, clinical and sales insights; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease-state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent industry experience: at least five (5) years total, with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment
  • Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; able to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; contributes ideas to the organization and responds to changes
  • Influences others; credible and respected; builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example and coaches peers
  • Documented leadership/current responsibility with ability to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: proven sales success within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying all requirements
