Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology – Brooklyn, NY. Field-based role covering Brooklyn, NY with additional coverage in Staten Island and portions of Queens, NY. Role involves executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing territory and accounts, building customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance with patient-centered focus and adherence to all applicable laws and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gain understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease states, products, clinical and sales knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field team and brand team to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie‚Äôs value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor‚Äôs degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent experience required.
  • Equivalent experience: at least five years in lieu of a bachelor‚Äôs degree, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Proven track record in selling with strong presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and provide innovative solutions to maximize opportunities; demonstrates impact and anticipates changes.
  • Influences others, trusted resource, builds collaborative partnerships, and leads by example in challenging environments.
  • Documented leadership or increased responsibility at district/region levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English proficiency (spoken and written).
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to access facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment.
