Role Summary
Field-based Specialty Representative covering Worcester, Springfield and surrounding areas in Massachusetts. You will execute brand strategy and field tactics, drive sales performance, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships with a patient-centered approach while complying with AbbVie’s conduct codes, policies, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed defined targets.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win–win agreements with customers.
- Develop and execute call plans that achieve set call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments and product/sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align strategy and execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five years of relevant industry experience is required; three or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry is preferred; a high school diploma/GED required.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; capable of strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment.
- Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; able to contribute ideas to the broader organization and respond to change.
- Influences others, is viewed as a credible and respected resource, builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example and coaches peers through changing environments.
- Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: Proven sales success within relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
- Essential: Satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and state or city licenses; you are responsible for meeting these requirements.
