Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Dermatology is a field-based role responsible for executing brand strategy and driving sales performance within a defined territory that includes Indianapolis, Greenwood, Terre Haute, Bloomington, and surrounding areas. The role focuses on building strong customer relationships, solving patient needs, and operating within company conduct and applicable laws to maximize short- and long-term sales performance.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
- Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
- Proactively address customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Gain and share market intelligence—customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, disease states, products, and clinical/sales insights—with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/maintain disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field or equivalent industry experience; if no bachelor’s, at least five years of relevant industry experience with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industries; high school diploma/GED required.
- Required: Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approaches to customer style and anticipate changes.
- Required: Influences others, demonstrates credibility, and builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example and supports peers in challenging environments.
- Required: Documented leadership experience at district/region/organizational levels; ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: Track record of sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (written and verbal).
- Required: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain access to facilities in the territory; maintain good standing or be eligible to obtain credentials.
- Required: Ability to meet HCIR credentialing requirements, including background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; AbbVie provides resources to assist.
- Required: Demonstrates deep scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource; strong business acumen and matrix leadership abilities.
