Role Summary

The Specialty Representative, Dermatology role is field-based and focused on executing brand strategy and tactics, achieving sales performance within a defined territory, and building strong customer relationships. The position requires close adherence to AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws, with the patient at the center of all efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to improve sales performance; handle objections and concerns effectively to close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan with metrics to maximize access and sales opportunities by optimizing coverage and frequency to key customers.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, and market dynamics; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health care providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Required: relevant and equivalent industry experience; if no bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record of sales success and solid presentation skills; can adapt selling style to customer behavior; provides impactful ideas for the organization and responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is seen as a credible role model; builds partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team; demonstrates positive behaviors during change.
  • Documented leadership experience in roles with increasing responsibility and ability to develop sales strategies from findings.
  • Preferred: proven sales success within therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing (for non-English speaking regions).
  • HCIR credentialing requirements must be satisfied to gain access to facilities; candidate must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; drive a personal or company vehicle as part of the role.
