Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Dermatology - San Bernardino. Field-based role covering San Bernardino and surrounding areas, requiring residence within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Role focuses on executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, achieving sales performance, managing territory and accounts, and building strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales while placing the patient at the center of efforts and complying with all laws and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share insights with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers; identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years total experience with three (3)+ years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment; provides innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Proven track record of selling success and strong presentation skills; adept at adapting to customer style/behavior and influencing outcomes; anticipates and responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; demonstrates positive behaviors and coaching.
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; responsibility to satisfy all credentials.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
