Role Summary

This is a field-based dermatology Specialty Representative role covering the San Antonio area (geography includes San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Laredo). Candidates should reside within a reasonable distance of the primary city. The role entails executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, driving sales performance, effectively managing the territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales while operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to improve sales performance; handle objections and secure action on calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win–win agreements.
  • Develop and execute call plans that meet metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, products, and sales with in-field team, brand team, and sales management to align strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field (or equivalent industry experience). If no degree, at least five years of relevant industry experience with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Required: Proven track record of selling success and solid presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style/behavior; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities and respond to changes.
  • Required: Influences others and is a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships and leads by example in changing environments.
  • Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at the district, region, or organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven sales performance within respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing.
  • Preferred: English language proficiency (verbal and written).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required. High school diploma/GED required if no degree.

Additional Requirements

  • HCIR credentialing: Must satisfy all health care industry representative credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; you are responsible for satisfying these requirements.
  • Driving: Ability to drive a personal automobile or company car/ truck, or to operate related equipment as required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; must meet safe driving requirements.
