Role Summary

Field-based Specialty Representative, Dermatology covering Leesburg and surrounding areas. Role involves executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, driving sales performance, managing assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales, while adhering to AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and secure actions to close sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute call plans that achieve set call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease states, products, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize brand strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers; identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource; strong business acumen; proficient with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; works effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Proven track record in selling with strong presentation skills; adapts selling approach to customer style; provides impactful ideas and responds to changes.
  • Influences others, is viewed as credible and a positive role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team; leads by example and coaches peers through change.
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success within the respective therapeutic area; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
