Role Summary

The Specialty Representative, Anti Infectives – Flint is a field-based role responsible for maximizing opportunities for the product portfolio within a defined geography (including Michigan regions such as Grand Rapids, Flint, Lansing, Marquette, and Benton Harbor). The role develops and maintains strategic relationships with Hospitals, IDNs, Academic Institutions, Outpatient Accounts, Long Term Care Facilities, Government Accounts, and Specialty Private Practice, focusing on increasing patient access, expanding business, and achieving geography sales goals through collaboration and cross-functional activities.

Responsibilities

  • Advances hospital and specialty customers along the sales continuum and gains prescriber commitments through effective questioning, active listening, and use of approved data and resources. Delivers on-label presentations to highlight product benefits/risks and address gaps to achieve sales goals.
  • Develops professional relationships and differentiates the Anti-Infective portfolio’s value proposition at all levels within accounts to expand usage.
  • Problem solves product and patient flow through Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distribution, and Buy and Bill channels; coordinates stakeholders across departments to align on patient-focused solutions.
  • Collaborates with in-field and in-house teams to identify, design, and adapt approaches and tactics in a complex, matrixed selling environment.
  • Creates, develops, executes, and monitors strategic geography business plans; determines department focus and frequency by account, aligns resources, and adjusts tactics to meet objectives.
  • Uses account data to develop working profiles and relationship maps; targets key stakeholders and decision-makers to expand physician usage and customer base.
  • Attends and participates in local boards, societies, conventions, and other HCP meetings; represents AbbVie, builds relationships, and communicates developments to internal partners with on-label communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience; at least five years of relevant experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industries preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Account-based selling experience with Hospitals, Wound Care Centers, or Infusion Centers; experience navigating matrix environments within IDNs, Academic Institutions, Hospitals, and outpatient accounts.
  • Knowledge of formulary approval processes and driving formulary approvals; experience with Buy and Bill and specialty pharmacy products preferred.
  • Proven track record of strong sales performance, ability to communicate complex products, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Strong business acumen with accountability for a sales geography, multitasking ability, data-driven decision making, and capacity to prioritize multiple accounts; analytical skills to analyze diverse data sets and drive account/program strategies.
  • Strong planning, organization, presentation, and facilitation skills; ability to learn procedural, technical, and clinical information quickly and present complex scientific information to varied audiences.
  • Influences others and demonstrates credibility as a role model; builds cross-functional partnerships and can work across changing environments to cover the assigned geography.
  • HCIR credentialing requirements (background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, licenses) to gain entry into facilities; maintain good standing or eligibility to obtain credentials.

Additional Requirements

  • Essential requirement to satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities within the assigned territory and maintain credentials.
  • Role is field-based; candidates should reside within a reasonable distance from the primary city; geography includes multiple Michigan cities.
