Role Summary
Specialty Account Manager for Nephrology (Rare Disease) covering Buffalo, NY and surrounding area (including Buffalo, Syracuse, and Albany). Responsible for representing Amgen products to physicians and healthcare professionals, establishing product sales, and performing total territory account management, including providing disease information and education to medical professionals and external customers involved in patient care.
Responsibilities
- Consistently achieve assigned sales objectives through promotion of patient-centered disease and product education to HCPs to improve patient care while adhering to corporate compliance guidelines
- Implement goals of the marketing plan through execution of strategic account business plan
- Demonstrated experience working in a matrix environment, including Case Managers, Medical Affairs, Patient access teams, and other necessary parties
- Effectively utilize all available resources and programs including peer-to-peer education and cross-functional partners to address identified knowledge gaps
- Navigate and identify opportunities through the healthcare landscape including academic institutions, IDNs, ACOs, private practices, and community hospital systems
- Establish productive business relationships with key local, regional, and national KOLs within the geographical coverage area and assigned therapeutic areas
- Develop and maintain in-depth disease and therapeutic clinical and scientific knowledge
- Utilize a consultative, highly technical, solution-oriented selling approach to meet the needs of healthcare professionals and Rare Disease patients
- Ensure compliance and corporate policy adherence, including documentation and reporting
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate degree with 2 years of collective account management, sales, and/or commercial experience; or Master’s degree with 6 years; or Bachelor’s degree with 8 years; or Associate degree with 10 years of collective account management experience, sales, & commercial experience
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; graduate business or healthcare-related degree preferred
- Preferred: 7+ years of experience in biotech, specialty pharmaceutical, or rare disease sales
- Preferred: 3+ years in rare disease/orphan drug experience (ultra-orphan and launch experience strongly preferred); rheumatology experience preferred
- Preferred: At least 3 years of in-office injection/infusion sales involving coordination with patient access services
- Preferred: Experience operating in a matrix selling environment with patient services, market access, medical affairs, and reimbursement focus on patient centricity
- Preferred: Market development/deep profiling in rare, unmet spaces
- Preferred: Track record of educating HCPs about complex diseases with diverse patient profiles
- Preferred: Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred: Strong organizational, analytical, and computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office
- Preferred: Professional, proactive demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
- Travel: Requires approximately 20-30% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments
