Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise for design reviews, process hazard assessments, quality risk assessments, factory/site acceptance testing, and automation installation/operational qualification.
- Partner cross-functionally to develop automated processes and complete qualification of equipment/process.
- Support technology transfer by demonstrating unit operations at a new manufacturing facility.
- Author/update technical documents for automated process design, definition, and qualification.
- Maintain automation systems in compliance with cGMPs.
- Evaluate automation/IT systems and develop strategies to optimize and ensure quality and stability through expansion.
- Troubleshoot issues; identify trends; support process monitoring, system administration, update documentation, data querying, operator training, and deviation investigations.
- Develop and execute automation change control (definition, risk/impact assessments, implementation) and support associated regulatory filings.
- Communicate daily with business/technical/quality representatives via the tier process.
- Support process improvement and complex manufacturing investigations; digital/data integrity initiatives.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing for complex issues.
- Develop/ensure standardized work, engineering, and process tools; resolve root causes considering safety, compliance, automation, equipment, process, and people.
- Develop/manage SOPs and work instructions; manage alarm responses and reconciliations.
- Support regulatory submission preparation and facility inspections.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s in Engineering/Science/IT (or related) OR Associate’s with 2 years process automation experience OR High school diploma with 5 years process automation experience.
- Required: 2+ years process automation (or equivalent); strong project management; excellent communication and teamwork.
- Preferred: PLC/SCADA/DCS/MES/batch reporting/OSI PI/Profibus and IT administration (networking, VMs, databases); biologics/vaccine/bulk sterile manufacturing; CSV and new facility start-up; regulatory inspection presentation experience.
