Join the Madison Peptide Therapeutics (MPT) Engineering team as an Instrumentation Software Engineer. Work with engineers and scientists to maintain, enhance, and innovate across a fleet of peptide array synthesizers in a fast-paced biotech R&D environment. Design and improve software interfacing with instrumentation hardware (sensors, actuators, pumps, motors, cameras, and other electronic devices) and develop workflow and quality-system support tools in a collaborative Agile team.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows and/or Linux software for peptide array synthesizers.
- Apply expertise across software design, machine control, data integration, and data analysis/visualization.
- Perform software testing and validation for quality, reliability, and performance.
- Support deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting in a biotech manufacturing environment.
- Follow development practices (version control, coding standards, code review, documentation).
- Design and conduct experiments/models to characterize system behavior and guide design.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Communicate updates to leadership and peers.
- Adhere to GxP, data security, and software development lifecycle requirements.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelorโ€™s (5 years) or Masterโ€™s (2 years) or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in either: C#/.NET/Windows Forms (Visual Studio) OR C++ on Linux.
- 1+ years developing software for laboratory/scientific/medical instrumentation.
- Understanding of: service-oriented architecture; multithreading (semaphores, mutual exclusion); XML/JSON messaging; Agile methods.

Preferred:
- Electronics/embedded systems.
- RS232/RS485/TCP-IP interfacing.
- Integration with Tecan/Hamilton or similar liquid handling robots.
- Python or Java.
- AI-assisted development and/or machine learning.
- Git/GitHub.
- Relational/graph/time-series databases.
