Role Summary

The SPE Technical Lead will be responsible for developing and leading technical solutions supporting one or more Digital Health platforms. You will engage multiple teams to define technical requirements, develop designs, and align technology that enables the platform architecture while meeting medical device regulatory expectations. You will be a leader across SPE projects, influencing other tech leads in how we develop platform solutions and driving the platform innovation roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive adoption of platform development standards and architecture patterns across the organization
  • Enable technical delivery of SPE software components including understanding and addressing risk, privacy, cybersecurity and legal constraints on project delivery
  • Drive design of new feature requests that are highly scalable and resilient
  • Align SPE technical solutions with Lilly supported technologies
  • Provide technical evaluation of proposed project ideas, software changes and future product releases
  • Drive the development and execution of our platform innovation roadmap, including creating working proof of concept models in new technology spaces directly connected to future Software Product Engineering capabilities
  • Mentor more junior members of the technical team
  • Build effective relationships with key technical resources and architects to influence technology solutions specifically related to Software Product Engineering systems
  • Provide guidance to Lilly and non-Lilly software delivery teams in best practice Agile delivery of software components of Lilly’s platform
  • Obtain and use knowledge of medical device delivery models and quality system to ensure solutions align with regulatory expectations and meet regulatory timelines
  • Obtain and bring to bear knowledge of Lilly business processes and technology to ensure solution deliveries are consistent with the strategy and roadmap

Qualifications

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of hands-on technical experience with modern cloud and web technologies
  • Or Required: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline
  • Required: 7+ years of experience delivering software solutions that span the development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, and support)
  • Required: 5+ years of technical leadership experience in delivery of software projects
  • Required: Legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship expected)
  • Preferred: Experience with medical device delivery models and quality systems

Skills

  • Agile software development concepts and implementations
  • Architected asynchronous systems (e.g., Kafka or similar)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar)
  • Identity management / authentication providers (preferably Okta)
  • GitHub
  • CI/CD capabilities and industry best practices
  • Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence) or similar
  • Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline

  • Role is located in Indianapolis, IN with a hybrid work model - relocation required
