Software Engineer - AI Platform (Hybrid)

Role: Software Engineer supporting an enterprise AI platform at AbbVie, focused on building, enhancing, testing, and maintaining production-ready AI capabilities to enable responsible and effective use of generative AI across scientific, clinical, commercial, and operational domains. Responsibilities: develop APIs, backend services, user workflows, automation scripts, and integration components; contribute to engineering patterns for prompt management, model routing, evaluation, and secure data access; collaborate with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver maintainable solutions; support onboarding, troubleshoot issues, improve documentation, and ensure platform quality through testing and validation; monitor platform reliability, investigate incidents, and implement automation to optimize production services; adhere to AbbVie standards for security, privacy, GxP, and responsible AI. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 5+ years or Master’s with 4+ years in software/data/AI engineering; hands-on experience with software applications, APIs, cloud services, data pipelines, or AI solutions; knowledge of modern development practices, source control, CI/CD, testing, and agile methodologies; proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java; interest or experience in generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, or AI platform tooling.
