Role Summary
Responsible for managing data, solutions, business, and technology architectures and aligning them to the enterprise architecture. For large projects with multiple systems, the architect coordinates technology solutions with business strategies, collaborating with senior management and technical experts across disciplines. This strategic leadership role in Operations and Finance IT enables innovative technologies and quality solution architecture across AbbVieโs enterprise and manufacturing sites.
Responsibilities
- Review customer architecture strategy to ensure adequacy and alignment with business process requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend architecture changes based on technology and business trends; specify architectural approaches and standards.
- Lead architectural governance efforts, methodology contributions, and architecture reviews to maintain strategic perspective and alignment.
- Provide consultancy support to clients, Senior Technical Specialists, and other technical architects on enabling technologies, ensuring performance and scalability.
- Conduct investigation, research, and provide technical advice on adoption/integration of new technologies and business impact.
- Identify and resolve cross-area problems/issues; anticipate and evaluate impacts of solutions across multiple organizational areas.
- Lead and coordinate hardware, network, and database architects in multi-system application design and implementation.
- Apply industry-standard problem-solving tools and techniques relevant to specialization.
- Suggest alternative approaches and participate in goal/objective determination for projects.
- Foster development of a common vision; provide clear direction on roles, responsibilities, and priorities.
- Address difficult strategic issues for organizational betterment, standing firm when necessary.
- Thoroughly understand requirements impacting customers; identify reusable solutions and industry-standard processes.
- Contribute to IT investment business cases; understand AbbVie business processes and cross-group system design impacts.
- Serve as subject matter expert for QMS platforms including TrackWise, Veeva Vault QMS, Salesforce; drive end-to-end design and governance of quality solutions.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with global regulatory standards (FDA, GxP, etc.).
- Mentor solution delivery teams and drive technical excellence.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related work experience with deep understanding of IT, business systems, application development, and data management.
- Required: 8+ years of IT roles (including technical, application development, business systems, data management).
- Required: 3+ years managing projects with exposure to varied technologies/applications.
- Required: Experience with Agile, DevOps, modern delivery methodologies.
- Preferred: In-depth domain expertise in Quality/Compliance, pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences.
- Required: Strong experience with TrackWise, Veeva Vault QMS, Salesforce, and QMS platforms.
- Preferred: Certifications in enterprise architecture (TOGAF, AWS, Salesforce) or QMS platforms.
Education
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science or related discipline; advanced degree a plus.
