Software / Control Engineer

Responsibilities:
- Develop basic control configuration or programming per design documents to meet functional requirements.
- Provide first-line technical support for automation-related issues to Project Engineers, Maintenance, Production, and Technical Operations; train OT system users in automation technologies and process control applications.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot control system hardware, software, and networking issues; replace defective components as needed.
- Perform site OT system upgrades and data migrations (DCS, PLCs, SCADA, Data Historian).
- Develop and execute qualification protocols and technical documentation (e.g., Functional and/or Design Specifications) following OT systems lifecycle validation activities.
- Perform scheduled OT systems administration and maintenance (OS and anti-virus updates, user account management, critical data backup, etc.).
- Evaluate and recommend control system improvements; establish monitoring and reporting techniques to support equipment performance reliability.
- Provide production support during off-peak hours (overtime, overnight, or weekends may be required).
- Comply with EHS requirements and procedures (incident reporting, PPE use, waste management/disposal) and consider EHS during design and change processes.

Qualifications:
- Bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline with at least 2 years relevant experience.
- Masterโ€™s degree in a related field (no experience required).
- Hands-on experience configuring Distributed Control Systems (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Foxboro I/A).
- Hands-on experience programming in ladder logic and instructional texts; HMI graphics development is a plus.
- Working knowledge of HMI graphics development.
- Knowledge of Data Historian systems such as OSIsoft PI is a plus.
- Experience with commissioning and qualification activities (desirable).
