Role: UAS Flight Operations Engineer II responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing long-range BVLOS UAV missions with a fixed-wing platform, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational safety. Responsibilities include leading flight testing, managing waiver strategies (FAA Part 107, COA), developing SOPs, serving as pilot-in-command, analyzing flight data, and coordinating with meteorological and field teams. The role bridges engineering development and field operations, supporting scaling from prototypes to hardened operations in complex international environments. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's in aerospace, aviation, or related fields; 3-5 years (MS) or 5+ years (BA/BS) of UAV flight experience, particularly with fixed-wing platforms; FAA Part 107 certificate required, with experience in BVLOS waivers and international UAS regulation preferred. Technical skills include operating ArduPilot-based autopilot systems, RF link monitoring, and atmospheric sensing. Experience supporting remote or international field campaigns is highly valued. The position involves hands-on flight operations, regulatory documentation, and collaboration with scientific teams, based in Boulder, CO.
