Role Summary
Senior Therapeutic Specialist, Oncology - Baltimore, MD. Responsible for representing oncology products and services to a defined customer base, generating and growing sales, and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets within a specific geographic area. Develops territory business plans, identifies patient pathways, and facilitates patient access to treatment. Builds relationships with oncologists, office staff, key accounts, and key opinion leaders, while collaborating with Medical, Marketing, and Market Access on cross-functional projects to drive sales and patient adoption.
Responsibilities
- Represent Oncology products and services to a defined customer base, generating and growing sales, and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets within a specific geographic area
- Prepare a business plan for the territory to achieve goals and implement systems to monitor sales progress and action plans
- Identify patient pathways within oncology offices in the assigned territory and facilitate patient access to treatment
- Promote assigned products to targeted oncologists and office staff, in-servicing all staff to ensure safe and appropriate drug administration, and inform staff about Gilead patient services
- Establish and develop business relationships with key customers, accounts, and relevant key opinion leaders
- Experience in hospital and large account sales, managing through complex reimbursement issues
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, solid presentation skills, and ability to influence others to represent Gilead at professional events
- Partner with Medical Scientists, Marketing, and Market Access on cross-functional projects to drive sales and patient adoption
- Demonstrate leadership among peers by consistent application and modeling of compliance, behavior, and conduct
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues and opportunities; communicate proactively to Marketing and Sales management
- Complete administrative tasks promptly (e.g., updating customer database, expenses)
- Ensure all personnel are in compliance with Gilead commercial compliance policy and applicable federal and state laws and guidance related to product promotion and information dissemination
Qualifications
- Required: High School and Nine Years' Experience or Associates Degree and Seven Years' Experience or Bachelor's Degree and Five Years' Experience or Masters' Degree and Three Years' Experience
- Required: Ability to travel as needed within the assigned area; satisfaction of onsite visitation requirements for healthcare practitioners as applicable; reasonable accommodations available for disabilities
- Required: Valid driver's license
- Preferred: A minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare sales experience and a BS/BA or equivalent
- Preferred: Previous product launch experience
- Preferred: Superior selling skills in competitive markets; prior experience in oncology therapy, especially breast cancer
- Preferred: Aptitude for understanding scientific product information; strong interpersonal skills; ability to lead and build relationships with Oncology key opinion leaders
