Role Summary

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) in Neuroscience/MS is a field-based role focused on delivering impactful engagement with Health Care Providers to drive adoption of BMS medicines for appropriate patients. The TAS promotes a differentiated Customer Experience through scientific dialogue aligned with the label and CE^3, builds credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians/HCPs, and collaborates across functions to ensure timely, scientifically grounded support. The role prioritizes safe and appropriate use of BMS products while achieving business results and upholding BMS values. This position is field-based and requires 100% time in the field with external customers. Location: Field - Springfield, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Demonstrates scientific expertise and uses approved resources and publications to present information to HCPs and ensures medical accuracy.
  • Proactively collaborates with other field teams to ensure the best Customer Experience (Cx) for HCPs.
  • Liaises with other BMS functions as needed to deliver an overall higher Customer Experience (Cx) by meeting HCP needs in a timely and scientific manner.
  • Prioritizes the safe and appropriate use of BMS products while focusing on overall business results and performance objectives.
  • The TAS role is field-based and spends 100% of time in the field with external customers.

Qualifications

  • Required: Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use of products in appropriate patients.
  • Required: Engages with and maintains a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Required: Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Required: Proactively uses CE^3 (once implemented) to derive insights and inform call plans; provides feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Required: Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue.
  • Required: Conducts in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discusses product-related scientific information with HCPs that is consistent with label.
  • Required: Organizes external speaker programs, selecting speakers from list approved by Speakers Bureau and facilitating scheduling and logistics.
  • Required: Maintains a high level of working expertise on emerging data for approved indications.
  • Required: Engages real-time medical support through Medical on Call to reactively answer unsolicited questions and complex technical inquiries.
  • Required: Cross-functional collaboration.
  • Required: Gathers and shares relevant insights and information internally with the appropriate stakeholders to enable BMS to better serve its customers.
  • Required: Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of BMS.
  • Preferred: Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience as healthcare sales / MSL / HCP / nurse.
  • Required: Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians best serve their patients.
  • Required: Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong credibility with key customers, office staff, and others in the customer influence network via a customer-centric mindset and desire to create positive and differentiated Customer Experience (Cx).
  • Preferred: Experience in Neurology is preferred.
  • Required: Demonstrated strong capability in account management skill sets, superior selling competencies, and proven sales performance track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Required: Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive team mindset and can-do attitude.
  • Required: Strong selling and promotional skills proven through a track record of performance.

  • Required: Ability to segment HCPs based on preferences and tailor communications and product presentations.
  • Required: Understanding of the patient journey and commitment to patient-centric engagement.
  • Required: Teamwork and learning agility; integrity and good judgment.

Education

  • Preferred: Advanced scientific degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD) or equivalent.
