Role Summary

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a field-based role focused on driving demand for BMS medicines within a defined territory, engaging Health Care Providers with scientifically grounded dialogue and a differentiated customer experience to support appropriate patient care. The TAS builds credibility with regional thought leaders and other HCPs, collaborates across BMS functions to enhance customer experience, and prioritizes safe and appropriate product use while delivering business results.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Demonstrates scientific expertise using approved resources to present information to HCPs and ensure medical accuracy.
  • Collaborates with other field teams to ensure an optimal Customer Experience for HCPs.
  • Creates demand for medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for product use in appropriate patients.
  • Maintains a high level of scientific expertise across assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Uses tools such as CE^3 to generate insights and inform call plans; provides feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Conducts in-office presentations and discusses product-related scientific information aligned with label.
  • Organizes external speaker programs, coordinating scheduling and logistics.
  • Remains up-to-date on emerging data for approved indications and engages Medical on Call for real-time support.
  • Shares insights internally with appropriate stakeholders to better serve customers; complies with all laws and policies.
  • Balances field activities with a customer-centric mindset to deliver differentiated Customer Experience (Cx).

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate scientific/clinical data accurately and convincingly to physicians.
  • Proven credibility with key customers and team-oriented, cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience in Immunology required.
  • Strong account management, selling competencies, and track record of meeting/exceeding goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Experience identifying, engaging, and building credibility across the patient care journey.
  • Patient-centric mindset and scientific agility with a continuous learning attitude.
  • Analytical capability to interpret data related to products, customer preferences, and clinical data.
  • Technical proficiency with CE^3 and CRM tools for data collection, entry, and engagement planning.
  • Ability to manage multiple communications channels (email, messaging apps, video conferencing) in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Strong integrity and judgment; compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Legal driving duties: eligible driver with a valid license, meeting company standards.

Education

  • Advanced scientific degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD) or equivalent
