Role Summary
The Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a field-based role within a customer-centric model to drive adoption of Bristol Myers Squibb medicines and generate demand among appropriate patients. The TAS engages Health Care Providers (HCPs) with a differentiated Customer Experience (Cx), grounded in scientific dialogue and aligned with labeling. The role builds credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians, office staff, and other patient-care stakeholders as the primary contact. The TAS collaborates with cross-functional partners to deliver a high-quality customer experience while prioritizing safe and appropriate use of BMS products and achieving business objectives. Location: Los Angeles W, CA.
Responsibilities
- Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
- Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use of products in appropriate patients.
- Engages with and maintains a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
- Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
- Proactively uses tools such as CE^3 or SOPHIA to derive insights and inform call plans; provides feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates scientific expertise and uses approved resources to present information to HCPs, ensuring medical accuracy.
- Conducts in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discusses product-related scientific information consistent with labeling.
- Organizes external speaker programs, selecting speakers from approved lists and facilitating scheduling and logistics.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge on emerging data for approved indications.
- Engages real-time medical support through Medical on Call to address unsolicited questions and complex inquiries.
- Collaborates with other field teams to ensure the best Customer Experience (Cx) and shares relevant insights with stakeholders to better serve customers.
- Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies governing the conduct of BMS.
Qualifications
- Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience as healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nurse.
- Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians serve their patients.
- Proven ability to build and maintain credibility with key customers, office staff, and others in the customer influence network via a customer-centric mindset and a goal of delivering a differentiated Customer Experience (Cx).
- Experience in cardiovascular products preferred.
- Strong account management skills, superior selling competencies, and a track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive team mindset and a can-do attitude.

Additional Requirements
- Qualified Driver: 21+ years old; valid driver's license in good standing; driving risk level acceptable to the Company.
