Role Summary
The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist, Cardiovascular Community, is a field-based role responsible for driving demand and adoption of Bristol Myers Squibb medicines among appropriate patients by engaging Health Care Providers with a scientifically rigorous, patient-centered Customer Experience. The TAS builds credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians/HCPs as the primary contact, collaborates with other BMS functions to meet HCP needs, and uses CE^3 to inform call planning. This position is based in Portland, OR, with substantial field travel to meet external customers.
Responsibilities
- Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
- Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use of products in appropriate patients.
- Engages with and maintains a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
- Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
- Proactively uses tools such as SOPHIA to derive insights and inform call plans; provides feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates scientific expertise and presents information to HCPs using approved resources, ensuring medical accuracy; conducts in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) consistent with label.
- Organizes external speaker programs, selects speakers from approved lists, and facilitates scheduling and logistics.
- Maintains a high level of working knowledge on emerging data for approved indications.
- Engages real-time medical support through Medical on Call to answer unsolicited questions and complex inquiries.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with other field teams to deliver the best Customer Experience for HCPs and shares relevant insights with stakeholders.
- Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies governing the conduct of BMS.
Qualifications
- Required: Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience as healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nurse.
- Required: Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians best serve their patients.
- Required: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain credibility with key customers, office staff, and others in the customer influence network via a customer-centric mindset and a desire to create a differentiated Customer Experience (Cx).
- Preferred: Experience in cardiovascular.
- Required: Demonstrated strong account management skills, superior selling competencies, and a track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
- Required: Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive team mindset and a can-do attitude.
- Required: Strong selling and promotional skills with a proven performance record.
