Senior Supply Chain Planning Analyst (Irvine, CA)
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the demand forecast for the assigned U.S. & Canada product portfolio across short-, medium-, and long-term planning horizons.
- Develop statistically and commercially informed forecasts using historical demand, sales trends, market intelligence, customer dynamics, promotions, and new product/lifecycle inputs.
- Lead the monthly demand planning cycle; document and communicate assumptions, risks, opportunities, and forecast changes.
- Analyze forecast performance (MAPE, forecast accuracy, forecast bias, value-add) and perform root-cause analysis of forecast error.
- Identify demand trends, customer behavior changes, unusual consumption patterns, and emerging risks/opportunities; adjust forecasts as needed.
- Facilitate cross-functional demand reviews (Commercial, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, etc.).
- Reconcile/explain differences between demand, operational, and financial plans.
- Develop demand scenarios and sensitivity analyses; communicate upside/downside risks.
- Support inventory strategies; monitor inventory (inventory dollars, Days of Supply, safety stock, excess, SLOB, inventory at risk) and recommend targets/parameters.
- Support safety stock levels/policies; identify excess/slow/obsolete inventory risks and drive mitigation.
- Play a key role in U.S. & Canada Demand IBP/S&OP: prepare analyses/recommendations and support alignment across plans.
- Support new product introductions and lifecycle transitions (phase-outs/discontinuations), including forecast/inventory adjustments and transition strategies.
- Use advanced analytics and automation to improve forecasting, inventory optimization, and IBP processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree required; Masterโs/MBA/APICS/IBF preferred.
- 4+ years in supply chain planning/demand planning/forecasting/inventory planning/S&OP/IBP or related.
- Strong hands-on demand planning/forecasting; ability to develop and improve forecasts for complex portfolios.
- Strong understanding of forecast accuracy (MAPE, forecast bias).
- Inventory experience (Days of Supply, safety stock, excess, SLOB).
- Scenario analysis experience.
- Strong understanding of IBP/S&OP and end-to-end supply chain interdependencies.
- Knowledge of planning systems/parameters and integration (MRP, APS, ERP, and/or demand planning systems).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
Preferred
- SAP, JDE, SQL, Anaplan, Blue Yonder, Power BI (or similar).
- Experience in medical device/healthcare/life sciences or regulated industry.
- New product introductions and lifecycle transition experience; APICS/IBF.
- Advanced/statistical forecasting methodologies.
