Job Description Roles and Responsibilities In this role, you will: Technical Leadership & Architecture Own the technical strategy, architecture, and execution of complex, cloud‑native platforms and services, including security‑critical and AI‑enabled systems Lead the design and evolution of distributed systems with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, security, performance, and cost efficiency Act as a technical authority for major feature areas or platforms, influencing architecture and engineering decisions across multiple teams Drive architecture and design reviews, define service boundaries, API contracts, and shared frameworks, ensuring alignment with long‑term product and platform goals Make informed and pragmatic technology and architecture decisions after assessing trade‑offs, risks, operational impact, and total cost of ownership Cloud, Platform, and Security Systems Design and lead the development of cloud‑native services using containerized microservices, serverless functions, and event‑driven architectures Architect and operate security‑sensitive systems, including orchestration platforms for malware or image scanning pipelines that handle untrusted inputs at scale Apply secure‑by‑design principles, including defense‑in‑depth, isolation, least privilege, auditability, and failure containment Ensure systems meet enterprise security, compliance, and data‑protection requirements, particularly when handling regulated or sensitive data AI‑Enabled Engineering & Software Development Life Cycle Apply AI‑assisted capabilities across the SDLC, including design support, code development, testing, troubleshooting, and operational automation Lead the responsible integration of AI‑enabled system components, understanding and mitigating risks related to non‑deterministic behavior, observability, latency, and cost Establish engineering best practices for building, validating, and operating AI‑powered features within production systems Mentor teams on practical and responsible use of AI tools to improve productivity, quality, and developer experience Product & Domain Expertise Develop a deep understanding of the end‑to‑end product, domain, and customer workflows, acting as a bridge between business needs and technical solutions Design and evolve systems that integrate with healthcare data standards and APIs, including HL7 and FHIR, while ensuring data privacy, security, and interoperability Collaborate closely with Product Line Leaders, architects, and stakeholders to translate product vision into scalable, resilient technical solutions Execution & Operational Excellence Lead complex initiatives from concept through production, providing technical direction, estimates, risk mitigation plans, and delivery strategies Establish and enforce engineering standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and operational readiness Assess and continuously improve system performance, availability, and operational efficiency in production environments Drive continuous improvement through data‑driven insights, retrospectives, and technical debt reduction Mentorship & Cross‑Organizational Influence Serve as a senior technical mentor and role model, guiding engineers across teams in design thinking, system architecture, and engineering excellence Influence engineering culture by promoting best practices, knowledge sharing, and technical rigor Partner across modalities in organization to align on architecture, standards, and shared platforms Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a STEM discipline Master’s degree or equivalent industry experience is a plus Technical Qualifications: 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong record of delivering large‑scale, business‑critical systems Deep expertise in designing and operating distributed, cloud‑native systems on AWS or equivalent cloud platforms Proven experience in system architecture and platform design, including reliability, scalability, availability, performance, and cost optimization Strong programming expertise in Java or TypeScript, with hands‑on experience in Python and/or Golang Extensive experience with containerized microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud‑native CI/CD pipelines Experience designing and leading event‑driven and asynchronous systems, including messaging, orchestration, and workflow platforms Proven experience building and operating security‑sensitive systems, such as malware scanning pipelines, content inspection, or policy‑driven enforcement services Strong understanding of secure system design for handling untrusted inputs, including isolation, sandboxing, IAM, secrets management, and auditability Hands‑on experience supporting production systems, including monitoring, incident management, root‑cause analysis, and operational improvements Working knowledge of AI‑enabled systems within the SDLC, including responsible use of AI‑assisted development tools and production integration of AI‑powered features Demonstrated continuous learning through practical adoption of new technologies, methodologies, or domains (e.g., cloud platforms, AI‑assisted development, security, healthcare standards) Desired Qualifications: Experience designing platform‑level services used by multiple teams or products. Experience working with healthcare or regulated data environments, including PHI handling, access controls, and audit requirements. Exposure to healthcare interoperability standards, such as HL7 and FHIR, including experience consuming or designing FHIR‑based APIs, with awareness of data privacy and security considerations. Hands‑on exposure to image, artifact, or container scanning pipelines, including orchestration, queuing, retries, and failure isolation Practical understanding of AI system trade‑offs, including non‑deterministic behavior, false positives/negatives, evaluation strategies, and operational monitoring Experience combining data systems, analytics, and telemetry to drive system insights and continuous improvement Strong ability to balance engineering velocity with safety, security, and compliance Experience collaborating directly with customers or external stakeholders to shape architecture and resolve complex technical issues Contributions to internal platforms, shared libraries, or technical standards that raised overall engineering quality Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to align technical strategy with business priorities and customer outcomes Strong understanding of how platforms, services, and architectural decisions impact cost, risk, scalability, and time‑to‑market Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for product, leadership, and cross‑functional stakeholders Proven skill in navigating large, matrixed organizations to drive alignment and execution Ability to anticipate organizational and technical risks and proactively define mitigation strategies Broad awareness of solution portfolios within the business unit and ability to connect engineering decisions to broader business value Leadership Expectations: Serve as a senior technical leader and trusted advisor, influencing architecture and engineering practices across teams and organizations Set a high bar for engineering excellence, including design rigor, code quality, security, and operational readiness Mentor and grow senior engineers and technical leaders through guidance, feedback, and example Lead complex initiatives with incomplete information, driving clarity through structured thinking and collaboration Foster a culture of learning, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement Demonstrate strong change leadership by guiding teams through technology transitions, platform evolution, and process improvements Build consensus across engineering, product, security, and leadership while maintaining high technical integrity.
