Position Description
As a member of the Central Utilities Department, the I&C Engineer supports maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of instrumentation, control systems, and data systems.

Primary activities include:
- Primary owner of Chiller Plant Control Systems and supporting process instrumentation
- Provide technical engineering insight for Central Utilities I&C systems
- Own and champion alarm management, cyber security, and high-performance HMI development
- Own and maintain active instrument list; advise union technicians for maintenance/repairs
- Support development/maintenance of engineering & control system documentation (drawings, specifications, manuals, PMs, operating limits, etc.)
- Manage expense and capital projects related to chiller automation; manage Central Utilities I&C budget and master planning
- Support recommendations to operating procedures; participate in incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis with corrective action follow-up
- Interface with internal/external groups (including OEMs/vendors) and leverage vendor support contracts
- Support operations/Maintenance to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements; provide backup support to site operations management (Unit 12)

Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related)

Required Experience and Skills
- 5+ years control systems/I&C/automation design and operations experience in power/utilities/chemical/facilities/pharma (or similar)
- Automation and technical troubleshooting experience
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities
- Knowledge of environmental, safety, and regulatory/code compliance (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, NFPA, ASME, ANSI, ISA, ISO)
- Experience creating/documenting/adhering to SOPs

Preferred Experience and Skills
- PE/EIT/CAP; Allen Bradley, Ignition, ABB Symphony Plus, Infi90, GE MarkVIe, PI, Wonderware
- TCIPIP, Modbus, BACnet; BAS/HVAC; fault detection/analytics/AI
- CMMS-based job plans, preventive & predictive maintenance
- Non-destructive testing (thermography, ultrasonic, vibration); alarm rationalization
- Budget/contract/service agreement management; NFPA 70/70E/85, ISA18.2; pharma industry utility experience; 2+ years executing capital projects
