Senior ServiceNow Architect (Raritan, NJ)

Role Purpose
- Primary ServiceNow Platform Architect for a process domain (e.g., HSRD, Source2Pay, LSD). Own design, delivery, sustainability, and operational readiness of scalable, secure enterprise ServiceNow solutions.

Core Accountabilities
- Platform Architecture & Delivery: Own end-to-end architecture/config decisions; translate business needs into scalable solutions aligned to enterprise standards; prefer configuration-first; create architecture diagrams/design docs/acceptance criteria; participate in design reviews.
- Platform Engineering & Code Quality: Implement Business Rules and Script Includes with reuse/testability; author maintainable code and automated tests; enforce patterns that protect upgradeability and minimize technical debt.
- Security, Access & Governance: Design/maintain ACLs, roles/groups, least-privilege access; consider performance/audit readiness/separation of duties; work with security/compliance.
- Upgrade Readiness & Sustainability: Refactor/remove custom logic that conflicts with out-of-box/upgrade paths; plan/testing/remediation; identify risky customizations early.
- Domain Expertise & Collaboration: SME support for backlog refinement, incidents, and architectural guidance; align with roadmaps/upgrade/GenAI; mentor developers/integrators.

Required Experience & Skills
- 7+ years hands-on ServiceNow platform architecture/design/implementation (not delegated work).
- Experience with Business Rules, Script Includes, and ACLs in governed environments.
- Strong knowledge in at least one process area (HSRD, Source2Pay, LSD).
- Proven judgment balancing performance, security, maintainability, and upgrade impact.
- Strong verbal/written communication; can explain design tradeoffs.

Strongly Preferred
- 2+ current ServiceNow certifications (CIS-ITSM/CMDB/ITOM, CAD, CSA).
- Experience planning/executing major ServiceNow upgrades and remediating upgrade issues caused by customizations.

Interview Expectations
- Be ready to present 2–3 ServiceNow design examples (problem, architecture, tradeoffs, security/ACLs, upgradeability) and discuss configuration vs. customization, performance, and maintainability.
