Position Summary
Senior Scientist, Translational Research (Oncology TRC) in Cambridge, MA. Advance oncology programs from candidate optimization through IND-enabling activities to Clinical Proof of Concept by designing studies and delivering data for clinical decision-making.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop biomarker, pharmacodynamic, and target engagement assays.
- Study drug mechanism of action and sensitivity/resistance using current/new techniques.
- Use flow cytometry and multiplexed assays for human blood biomarker development.
- Use quantitative assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD, Luminex).
- Apply in vitro oncology models/assays to support drug combinations and indication selection.
- Use functional genomics tools (CRISPR, RNAi, ORF, etc.) for target characterization and mechanistic studies.
- Design/oversee molecular, cellular, and/or in vivo studies with project teams and contract labs.
- Co-author non-clinical pharmacology reports and scientific publications as needed.
- Execute experiments independently; troubleshoot, interpret, and communicate results.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s + 7+ years (academic/industry), or Master’s + 5+ years, or PhD (Life Sciences) + 2+ years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoc and/or 1–3 years industry; or BA/MA with 5–7+ years in drug discovery/translational research.
- Highly proficient in flow cytometry; preclinical human blood biomarker assay development.
- Biomarker-focused lab experience (cell culture; protein/DNA/RNA assays incl. MSD/ELISA, Luminex, RNAi, CRISPR, qPCR, primary cell isolation/culture).
- Experience with patient-derived material (organoid/tumoroid) and cell-based assay development (valued).
- Strong independent work, record-keeping, prioritization, data interpretation, and oral/written communication.
Compensation Overview
Cambridge Crossing: $142,220–$172,340.
