Position Summary
Senior Scientist, Oncology Translational Research (Oncology TRC) โ Cambridge, MA. Design scientific studies and deliver data impacting clinical decision-making. Advance oncology programs from candidate optimization through IND-enabling to Clinical Proof of Concept by exploring patient stratification, drug combination, and/or biomarker concepts.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop biomarker, pharmacodynamic, and target engagement assays
- Investigate MOA and sensitivity/resistance using current/new techniques
- Use flow cytometry and multiplexed assays for human blood biomarker development
- Perform quantitative biomarker assays (ELISA, MSD, Luminex, and others)
- Apply in vitro oncology models for drug combination and indication selection
- Use functional genomics tools (e.g., CRISPR, RNAi, ORF) for target/drug mechanism studies
- Coordinate with project teams and contract labs to design/oversee molecular, cellular, and/or in vivo studies
- Co-author non-clinical pharmacology reports and scientific publications
- Execute experiments independently; troubleshoot, interpret, and discuss data
- Communicate via email, meetings, and reports
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelorโs + 7+ years; or Masterโs + 5+ years; or PhD/advanced life sciences + 2+ years (academic/industry)
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD + postdoc and/or 1โ3 years industry; or BA/MA with 5โ7 years industry in drug discovery/translational research
- Highly proficient in flow cytometry and human blood-based biomarker assay development
- Experience with biomarker-focused lab work (cell culture; protein/DNA/RNA analysis; MSD/ELISA, Luminex, RNAi, CRISPR, qPCR; primary cell isolation/culture/functional assays)
- Experience with patient-derived materials (organoid/tumoroid) valued
- Independent execution, accurate records, project prioritization, data interpretation, strong written/oral communication, problem-solving, flexibility
