Senior Scientist, Target Discovery & Biology – Functional Genomics
What You Will Do
Join the Target Discovery & Biology team in South San Francisco. Use functional genomics in disease-relevant systems (in vitro to in vivo) to advance target discovery and validation across Amgen’s therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage functional genomics approaches across therapeutic areas to discover novel targets and address key biological questions
- Lead, support and execute projects from inception through target identification, validation, and mechanism-of-action studies
- Foster a collaborative, creative, scientifically rigorous team culture committed to delivering impact across the pipeline
Basic Qualifications
- PhD (Doctorate degree)
- OR PharmD OR MD (with relevant post-doc experience in Target Discovery & Biology)
- OR Master’s degree + 3 years relevant experience in Target Discovery & Biology
- OR Bachelor’s degree + 5 years relevant experience in Target Discovery & Biology
Preferred Qualifications
- Molecular biology and cell engineering; complex/co-culture in vitro models
- Large-scale complex/in vivo genetic screens (esp. CRISPR) and follow-up validation
- Data-driven discovery and integration of genetic/multi-omics insights
- Organizational/communication skills; drive cross-site collaboration
- Functional genomics experience across diverse indications; scientific productivity/innovation; successful new research areas
