Senior Scientist, Physical Sciences R&D

Key Accountabilities
- Serve as a technical lead for assigned projects/workstreams, driving experimental strategy, execution, and interpretation with limited oversight.
- Apply advanced scientific judgment to design, optimize, and troubleshoot complex radiochemical and analytical processes.
- Identify scientific risks, propose mitigation strategies, and adapt approaches based on experimental findings.
- Independently design, execute, and document experiments supporting radiopharmaceutical discovery and development.
- Lead synthesis and optimization of novel bifunctional chelators and radiolabeled compounds.
- Develop, validate, and refine advanced radioanalytical methods (radio-TLC, HPLC) for characterization, release, and stability studies.
- Evaluate and improve analytical approaches to increase robustness, sensitivity, and throughput.
- Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and cross-disciplinary R&D teams to support program progression.
- Critically analyze complex datasets and translate findings into technical conclusions and recommendations.
- Author/review technical reports, development summaries, and presentations; support GxP/regulatory/tech-transfer documentation.
- Ensure laboratory equipment operation, calibration, and qualification; promote safety, radioactive material handling, and data integrity.
- Mentor and guide junior scientists; share expertise and lessons learned.

Education & Experience
- PhD + 5 years, MS + 6 years, or BS + 8 years relevant industry or post-doctoral experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with radioactive materials in R&D and/or GMP-adjacent environments.

Technical Expertise & Professional Capabilities
- Advanced synthetic organic chemistry and radiochemistry.
- Radioanalytical method development (radio-TLC, HPLC).
- Statistical experimental design, data interpretation, and structured problem solving (e.g., Six Sigma).
- Experience leading project/workstream scientific initiatives; strong written/verbal communication.
- Ability to influence without authority and operate effectively in a fast-paced matrix environment.
