Role Summary

Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist, Oncology Translational Development. The role involves developing translational disease strategies in Breast cancer across multiple asset programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive translational strategy for early and late-stage development within the BMS pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes translational disease strategy in BrCa with deep disease expertise
  • Leads and oversees execution of disease strategy including patient selection strategies
  • Serves as scientific expert in generating novel hypotheses for actionable biology based on discoveries in BrCa
  • Manages cross-functional disease project teams with interfaces across IT, bioinformatics, data sciences, biostatistics, external collaborators, contractors, other disease strategy leads and asset leads
  • Maintains relationships with physician scientists to identify opportunities and gain disease insights
  • Identifies needs, gaps and translational disease questions and applies knowledge across BrCa assets
  • Leads collaborations with academia and industry to identify biobanks, trials and databases to mine for biomarkers with computational biologists, data scientists and statisticians
  • Guides bioinformatics partners on biological questions to deliver biomarkers and understanding from multi-omics data to support BrCa drug discovery and development
  • Manages relationships with Regulatory, Clinical, Commercial, Medical Affairs & Communications and external collaborators to develop translational analysis plans and timelines, communicate results
  • Represents the Solid Tumor Translational Development function in internal meetings and provides domain knowledge to cross-functional teams
  • Directs and supports publications in scientific journals

Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, cancer biology, human genetics, immunology or related field
  • Senior Scientist: 3+ years post-PhD with leadership in integrating, analyzing and interpreting multimodal translational data
  • Principal Scientist: 5+ years post-PhD with leadership in integrating, analyzing and interpreting multimodal translational data
  • Strong background in human cancer genetics, tumor biology & immunology, genomics/multi-omics with understanding of tumor-intrinsic and tumor-extrinsic resistance mechanisms
  • Extensive knowledge of high-content biomarker platforms and clinical practice in BrCa
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and ambiguity
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Prior experience with clinical trials preferred
  • Track record of high-quality scientific publications

Education

  • PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. molecular biology, cancer biology, human genetics, immunology)
