Clinical Research and Development
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate end-to-end laboratory automation systems.
- Program and integrate laboratory instrumentation from vendors (e.g., Beckman Coulter, Hamilton, Tecan).
- Develop and optimize liquid-handling protocols (Biomek/Hamilton/Tecan) and perform liquid class validation.
- Coordinate with vendors to support/service equipment and minimize downtime.
- Provide operations, troubleshooting, and optimization for novel robotic platforms.
- Collaborate professionally to resolve new/unique situations; provide timely scientific support while maintaining project timelines.
- Empower/coach assay staff as experiments transfer to robotic platforms.
- Procure materials for assay execution, system builds, and lab support.
- Develop and execute installation, testing, and validation procedures on novel automation platforms.
- Coordinate installation requirements with Safety and Facilities.
- Continuously improve processes/systems to enhance client satisfaction; direct information to vendors/suppliers/facilities/service providers to ensure coordinated execution.
Education / Qualifications
- BA/BS in Engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science, or equivalent with 7+ years; MS with 3+ years; or PhD with hands-on experience in a related field.
Required Experience & Skills
- 100% on-site; strong automation/engineering competency in integration, robotics, liquid handling, software, and electro-mechanical solutions.
- Ability to build/maintain stakeholder relationships; communicate plans/issues.
- Ability to prioritize projects/resources and work independently.
- Experience with commercial laboratory software/equipment (e.g., Momentum, Green Button Go, Cellario; Beckman, Tecan, Hamilton, Brooks).
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Pharmaceutical/biotech or lab experience; cursory bench science knowledge.
- Microsoft programming languages (VB, Python, C#, SQL).
- Regulated/clinical documentation experience (e.g., GxP).
- Laboratory field service experience.
Required Skills
- Biochemical assays, cell-based assays, detail-oriented, flow cytometry, ligand binding assays, LC-MS, mass spectrometry analysis, partnership strategy, teamwork.
