Senior Scientist, Membrane Protein Biochemistry
What You Will Do
- Design strategies for recombinant production of polytopic membrane protein (MP) targets and purification with detailed analytical characterization
- Develop MP platforms and capabilities to increase success rates of large-molecule and small-molecule therapeutic discovery programs
Key Responsibilities
- Independently devise and implement state-of-the-art membrane protein production strategies through laboratory experiments with rigorous documentation and quality of deliverables
- Analyze and interpret scientific data and communicate results to diverse scientific audiences
- Collaborate with scientists to plan methodological approaches, resources, timelines, and milestones
- Stay current in membrane protein expertise; advise supervisors/colleagues; mentor junior scientists and technical staff
Basic Qualifications
- PhD (Doctorate)
- OR PharmD
- OR MD with relevant post-doc experience
- OR Master’s degree and 3 years relevant laboratory experience
- OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years relevant laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD plus relevant postdoctoral experience
- Flexible problem-solving with track record of scientific accomplishments (e.g., publications and/or patents)
- Proven expertise with ÄKTA systems and quality-focused analytical methods for MP characterization (HPLC/UPLC: SEC/fSEC; spectroscopy; mass spectrometry)
- Plus: structural biology or dissection of MP molecular pharmacology
- Excellent written/oral communication, leadership, and teamwork in fast-paced environments
