Position Purpose:
The Senior Scientist will collaborate across Research to support preclinical efforts in understanding target engagement, pharmacology, and efficacy of novel compounds in disease models. Reports into the Executive Director of in vivo pharmacology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct in vivo studies and perform molecular analysis using internal and outsourced resources.
- Collaborate across functions to support preclinical proof of concept and candidate selection.
- Apply scientific judgment to adapt/create standard methods and techniques.
- Develop and optimize preclinical biomarker assays to support discovery and early development.
- Maintain timely recordkeeping while meeting aggressive timelines.
- Author study reports for regulatory filings and scientific manuscripts.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelorβs (16+ years), Masterβs (10+ years post-grad), or Ph.D. (6+; industry plus). Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or related degrees highly preferred.
- Experience with intrathecal and intracerebroventricular dosing in preclinical models.
- Drug discovery experience in neurology; oligonucleotide experience is a plus.
- Design and manage experiments at contract research organizations.
- Tissue-matrix assay development/optimization (e.g., MSD, ELISA, qPCR); IHC skills a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong planning, organization, and time management; ability to prioritize multiple projects.
Location & Travel:
- Lab-based in Bedford, MA (moving to Waltham, MA by end of 2026). ~5% travel.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Anticipated salary range: $154,000β$179,000. Annual bonus and equity participation.
