Senior Scientist II, Occupational & Environmental Toxicologist

Onsite Genetic, Environmental, and Occupational Toxicology (GEO Tox) toxicologist to complete risk assessments supporting occupational, environmental, manufacturing, and regulatory filings across therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities:
- Critically evaluate literature and toxicology reports/summaries; use read-across and in silico data to generate toxicology product risk assessments (e.g., extractables/leachables, HBELs/PDEs/OELs, environmental risk assessments, other contaminants).
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to align on safety banding for company implementation.
- Participate in external working groups to drive industry standards and monitor upcoming regulations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior GEO Tox team members and adjacent departments.
- Plan and monitor CRO studies for environmental assessments supporting regulatory filings.
- Plan and monitor CRO studies for worker safety studies related to occupational safety and handling.
- Support evaluation and implementation of relevant new approach methodologies (NAM).
- Provide technical support for occupational health hazard categorizations and chemical registrations (GHS/CLP) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

Qualifications:
- Sr. Scientist II: Bachelorโ€™s in toxicology (or related) + typically 12 years experience OR Masterโ€™s (or related) + 10 years OR PhD (or related) + 4 years.
- Proven record of successfully evaluating safety risks.
- Excellent collaboration, multi-tasking, and communication skills; strong oral/written communication and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.

Desired skills:
- Occupational Exposure Banding; performance-based exposure control limits; and/or evaluating toxicity data for SDS.
- Risk assessment authoring.
- Regulatory guidance knowledge/experience (ICH Q3C/Q3D/Q3E, ICHM7, ISO-10993-X).
- Toxicity data mining (databases/literature).
- Software and in silico predictive tools (e.g., QSAR, OECD).
- Board certification preferred (not required).

- Onsite role based in South San Francisco, CA.
