Job Description
Conceive and execute novel scientific research or development that achieves projects and area goals. Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts. Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques. Act as a lead scientist and critically evaluate relevant scientific and regulatory advances and integrate this knowledge into research or development programs.
Responsibilities:
- Resolve key project hurdles and assumptions using available information and technical expertise.
- Develop and validate mechanistic and hybrid models for CHO cell culture and downstream purification; provide direct modeling support to first-in-human and late-stage teams.
- Lead AI capabilities buildout for natural language-driven problem solving with models.
- Build and maintain computational guidance/workflow and computing infrastructure with IT and information research organizations.
- Use AI to streamline and automate model building; develop automated documentation and knowledge-management interfaces (prompt-triggered model execution and result analysis).
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
- Proactively incorporate relevant literature into projects and the overall program.
- Pursue project-relevant leads aligned with group strategy.
- Adhere to corporate standards for conduct, safety, material handling, controlled drug/radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
- May mentor/supervise a team and be accountable for performance.
Qualifications:
- BS with typically 12 years; MS with typically 10 years; PhD with typically 4 years.
- Thorough theoretical and practical understanding of the scientific discipline.
- Strong writing and communication for research/regulatory materials.
- Protein homology modeling and AI/ML approaches in QSAR prediction preferred.
- Strong programming skills (Python, shell scripting) and HPC and/or cloud computing experience preferred.
