Role: Senior Scientist I in Solid State Chemistry within AbbVie's Molecular Profiling and Drug Delivery (MPDD) function, focusing on solid form development for small molecule drug candidates. Responsibilities: support all development phases from lead optimization to process validation by identifying API solid forms, developing scalable isolation processes, and establishing structure-property-performance relationships; leverage analytical, automation, and computational tools; collaborate cross-functionally with formulation, engineering, and regulatory teams to ensure robust, manufacturable, and regulatory-acceptable solid forms. Requirements: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Physical Chemistry, Material Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Chemical Engineering with 0-8+ years' relevant industry experience; expertise in polymorphism, solid form characterization, and materials properties assessment; familiarity with biopharmaceutical concepts, preclinical and clinical formulation, and computational modeling; proficiency in analytical techniques (PXRD, HPLC, microscopy) and automation tools. Preferred: experience in molecular modeling, materials science, and leveraging data analytics for development insights. HighValue: solid form development in small molecule drug discovery, cross-phase development support, integration of experimental and computational methods, regulatory submission support, and working within GxP environments. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and engagement in innovative problem-solving are key. Location: US-based with the possibility of hybrid work; travel requirements are not specified.
