Senior Scientist I, Discovery Chemistry (Synthetic Chemistry)

Role: Senior Scientist I (or Scientist III) in synthetic chemistry supporting discovery of oligonucleotide-based therapeutics, focusing on novel compound synthesis for extrahepatic delivery. Responsibilities: design, synthesize, purify, and characterize compounds; develop and troubleshoot synthetic and purification workflows; coordinate compound production with internal teams and vendors; review compound quality for biological testing; integrate chemical, pharmacokinetic, and formulation data to inform design; monitor literature for innovative chemical strategies. Requirements: PhD in Chemistry or related field; 3+ years industry or postdoctoral experience; strong hands-on synthetic chemistry skills; ability to independently develop synthetic strategies and interpret cross-functional data; experience leading chemistry activities and coordinating teams. Preferred: experience with nucleic acid modalities (siRNA, antisense), multifunctional molecule design, plasma PK, challenging compounds, and familiarity with DMPK, formulation, or drug delivery platforms. The position emphasizes laboratory-based chemistry with collaboration across biology, DMPK, analytical sciences, and formulation teams. Location: Wisconsin; salary range $120,000-$135,000 USD.
