Senior Scientist – Experimental Protein Design for Target Discovery
What You Will Do
- Build and lead high-throughput platforms for binder generation, translating computational protein designs into experimentally validated minibinders and antibodies across diverse pre-discovery targets.
- Focus on production, experimental validation, and characterization of computationally designed de novo binders.
- Create scalable binder libraries for multiplexed phenotypic screening; develop multispecific tool molecules and provide tool reagents for early-stage target characterization.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate computational protein designs into experimentally testable minibinders and antibodies across multiple targets in parallel.
- Lead high-throughput workflows for binder expression, purification, and characterization; develop cellular assays for binder–target evaluation.
- Partner with molecular biology teams to establish construct generation and binder library production workflows for individual and pooled library screening.
- Develop strategies to format de novo binders into appropriate modalities (e.g., multispecifics).
- Analyze and interpret experimental data to guide iterative design-build-test cycles.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD (Doctorate)
- OR PharmD
- OR MD with relevant post-doc experience in Protein Engineering
- OR Master’s degree + 3 years Protein Engineering experience
- OR Bachelor’s degree + 5 years Protein Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Biochemistry/Protein Engineering/Bioengineering/Structural Biology (or related) + relevant postdoc.
- High-throughput/libraries experience expressing, purifying, and characterizing engineered proteins (e.g., antibodies/minibinders); experience with cell-free, E. coli, and mammalian expression hosts is a plus.
- Binder hit validation (flow cytometry, SPR) and development of cellular functional assays.
- Protein–protein interaction engineering; knowledge of protein structure–function relationships.
- Collaboration with computational protein design teams; translating in silico designs into testable reagents.
- Automation/high-throughput experimentation (plus). Phenotypic screening/receptor biology/early target characterization (plus). Strong organizational and communication skills.
